PETER OLSEN, Holus Bolus Productions founder, producer, guitarist, composer

Peter Olsen is a guitarist, composer and educator.  He has composed and played guitar in various acoustic and electric ensembles.  Past efforts include his World Fusion duo Advaita, collaboration and support with Prasanna Kumar (India/sitar), Saida Fikri (Morocco) and has accompanied Ustad Shabbir Nisar, playing lehara, for tabla solo recital.  In 2010, he release Arcadia, music for meditation, with his brother Eric Olsen on piano and keyboards and in 2011, Peter released The Portal, music of the crystal singing bowls. 2017 sees the release of an album Cosmic Forces with his new band PODD.

ERIC OLSEN, MFA

Eric Olsen is “an expert in the art of musical transfiguration” with a unique ability to re-imagine familiar melodies so that they are “truly born anew” (Dan Bilawsky, AllAboutJazz.com). Eric’s latest album, Dyad Plays Jazz Arias (Ringwood Records), features veteran jazz master Randy Brecker on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Grammy award winner Ted Nash on tenor saxophone. The album has garnered critical acclaim: “I am impressed in particular with Olsen’s pianistic abilities, as he plays head turning solos” (Robert Rusch, Cadence Magazine).  Eric’s album Sea Changes (Blujazz) with the Eric Olsen ReVision Quartet (featuring saxophonist Don Braden) was rated “Best Jazz Arrangements of 2015” by Jazz Times magazine. Travis Rogers called Sea Changes “a stunning rainbow bridge between the worlds of Classical and Jazz”.  Eric’s album Dyad Plays Puccini (Ringwood Records) was rated one of the top 50 Jazz CD’s of 2013 by Jazz Times, and was praised as “perhaps the most amazing transformation of cultural enlightenment in the last quarter century” (Brent Black, CriticalJazz.com).  Eric accompanied operatic bass Kevin Maynor on the Grammy nominated album The Black Art Song of 2000.  Eric has performed at jazz festivals and with symphony orchestras worldwide.  He is Music Director and Organist at Union Congregational Church in Montclair, and a faculty member at Montclair State University and the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts in Berkeley Heights, NJ. TAKASHI OTSUKA

Studied composition and arranging with Herb Pomeroy, Bob Freedman and Ken Pullig, and improvisation theory with Gary Burton at Berklee College of Music.
Studied bass with Lincoln Goines, Jay Anderson, David Finck and Louis Kozma.
Performed with various artists such as Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Seiji Ozawa, The Boys Choir of Harlem, Ben E. King, Swing Express under the direction of Bill Conway, Composer’s Workshop Big Band under the direction of Mike Treni, Latin Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Victor Rendon, Don Sebesky, Bob Mintzer, Charles McPherson, Marion Meadows, Lew Solof, Ted Curson, Claudio Roditi, Jon Faddis, Norman simmons, Andy Bey, Larry Coryell, Vic Juris, John Hart, Bob Devos, Ron Affif, Pete Levin, Jack Walrath, Billy Hart, Eliot Zigmund and many more.
Worked as a bass instructor for four years at Professional Music studios, Inc.
Teaching privately for the last ten years.

MEG LYDING, MFA

Meg Lyding is a musician with a background in piano and voice and a visual artist with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Parsons The New School for Design in NYC.  Captivated by the unique and powerful resonance of the crystal singing bowls, in 2013, Meg joined Peter in musical collaboration. www.meglyding.com

DANIEL JOHNSON

Daniel is a Philadelphia based Tabla player and percussionist. Extensive study in the US and India of Tabla, performances with Spoken Hand percussion orchestra, jazz legend Badal Roys “Dharma Jazz”, Grammy winner Paul Winter Consort, Sitar great Prasanna Kumar , Advaita with Guitarist Peter Olsen, Daughter of the Mountain with mantra singer Suzin Green, SEJ Trio with John Swana and Craig Ebner, Hennessey Bonfire, and The Vehicle with Thomas Wave on Sitar and many others have kept him moving further into sublte pulsation.

SANDEE CONROY

‘Singing’ Bowls entered Sandee’s life in 2001.  Through personal study and Time, she has developed a powerful method of sound meditation and brings a unique blend of wit and wisdom to every session.   Sandee has two CDs:  ‘The Art of Balance –Singing Bowl Chakra Clearing’ released in 2010; and, in 2011, ‘The Portal’ – Music & Vibrations of Crystal Bowls, co-created with Peter Olsen.   In addition to her sound healing meditation sessions, Sandee conducts Singing Bowl Workshops. www.singingbowllady.com
